[Bioperl-l] bioperl-1.4 make error

I can not get bioperl-1.4 installed on my linux machine,
 
After getting the Makefile and type: 
make 
 
I get the following error:
 
"Makefile:4763: *** multiple target patterns.  Stop."
 
Any clue what is going on?
