[Bioperl-l] Finding subject length with BPlite

What is the recommended way to pull the subject length (not match
length) out of a BLAST report with BPlite?  There used to be a
$sbjct->length() method but it no longer exists. (I know SearchIO will
do it but would rather not rewrite existing scripts).
