[MOBY-l] simple service running off WSDL from MOBY Central! try it yourself!

Hi all,

before I go for lunch I wanted to commit to the repository the things I
have been doing this week.

DEVELOPERS: please remember to register on the MOBY-guts mailing list
to see the commits as they come through...

In the "Client" folder there is a script called simple_client.pl. This
script shows how to query MOBY-Central for a service taking certain
object types and namespaces as input. How to take the resulting WSDL
file and create a new service connection with it, and how to execute
that service and get the result. It should run right out-of-the-box.
The whole thing is only about 10 lines :-)

Very cool stuff... but it's still early days yet!

Unfortunately, one of our cluster nodes lost its power supply yesterday,
so at the moment this service only returns straight text mock-results,
but hopefully tomorrow I'll have it set up to return valid MOBY Sequence
objects retrieved from GenBank/ID's. In any case, spend some time
browsing the code to see how you can use it to set up your own
services. It's dead easy!

Get in touch with me if you need help; I'm going to start documenting
things in more detail very very soon. I've got a head full of
"dead-end" information from my various mishaps along the way that might
be useful if you are having problems...

Let's give the I3C a run for their money by having at least 10 prototype
services running before ISMB ;-)

Cheers all!

Mark
