I agree that CenOS 5.4 is very old, but we're stuck with it I'm afraid :(

As I've said before, having (at least one) CloudBioLinux installation as
a buildslave is a wonderful idea. But one of my aims in having a pool of
buildslaves is to cover as many likely end user configurations as possible.
So I think is it sensible to include BioRuby and Ruby installed from source
on an otherwise solid/old Linux distribution.
