[Bioperl-l] Is Bio::Root::Xref redundant?

Just spring cleaning down here in the southern hemisphere:

Bio::Root::Xref

- no real changes since 1998

- docs say "WARNING: This module is still in the experimental phase and 
has not been tested."

- Bio::Root::Object uses it to add things via its xref() method but 
nothing I can find uses it

Are there any Bioperl pioneers out there who could provide some history 
or suggestions regarding this module?
