[Bioperl-l] PubMed and UTF8

a little bit offtopic maybe, but I thought this would be the best place to 
ask ;)

I want to automatically download abstracts from PubMed for database storage. 
As many author's names contain umlauts (e.g. german Umlaute ö,ä,ü etc.) I 
also want to catch them. Right now I'm using LWP::Simple and get($URL) to 
download articles, but umlauts aren't displayed correctly that way. 

Anybody could give me a hint on how to solve that?
