I just had to re-install bioperl and all other modules. Our sysads switched to
perl 5.8.0 and suddenly most of my scripts did not function anymore. Since I
have a local installation (more or less independent of the perl installation,
which resides on the servers of our department) I encountered most problems
with the modules that are linked to a C-library. Those include GD and libxml.
All the other modules and bioperl itself installed quite easily. But I must
admit I have gained some experience in installing modules and libraries at
non-standard directories over the years.
