You might have a look at the Bean Scripting Framework from IBM.  It's an 
open source project that allows you to plugin scripting language support 
into your applications.  Currently supported languages include Netscape 
Rhino (Javascript), VBScript, Perl, Tcl, Python, NetRexx and Rexx .  The 
Perl and Python support might help people currently working on the 
bioperl and biopython to incorporate biojava into their development
