[Biojava-dev] GSoC

Hi Andreas,

I would assume the OBF will apply as a GSoC organisation
again this year (although being accepted is not guaranteed
of course), which would allow all the Bio* projects to offer
student project as a group.

This does not stop BioJava putting forward GSoC projects
with another umbrella organisation (e.g. in case the OBF
is not accepted this year) - there may be some scientific
Java groups that would work?

We've (at least Biopython and BioPerl) have found the
main problem as been getting enough mentors to cope
with all the great student applications :(

Potential mentors - you have to make quite a big time
commitment, but this can be really rewarding and fun.

Regards,

Peter
