As Martin says, this would require changes to the API and registry

Again, Martin is correct that there was an "inside conversation" a few  
weeks ago after we discovered that Paul's parser already supported this  
behaviour.  Mine (CommonSubs.pm) does not, and Martin's doesn't either at  
the moment (I beleive?).  However, it does make sense to support this, and  
I changed the wording of the Moby 1.0 manuscript to suggest that we would  
support this in the near future, so I suspect that we'll make the final  
decision at the June meeting.  Once this is supported, it would make sense  
to think about what you suggest above... though we have then reinvented  
RDF/OWL :-)
