That is entirely correct.  Moby-s inherits its authentication from SOAP, which inherits its authentication from HTTP.  The MOBY::Client::Central module actually handles authentication if you are running your script from the command line (God help me if I remember exactly how... Matt Links and I wrote a few secure services in my living room a couple of years ago and that was the last time I looked at that code... Unfortunalely I left my machine in the lab today so I can't look it up)

Anyway, authentication isn't something we need to worry deeply about.  It is all handled by libraries below our Moby libs.  It's nothing more than a trivial line or two of code to implement the solution for your own situation.

Re: authentication... I presume that you mean user authentication to use a
specific web service on your provider? Remember that web services (e.g.
MOBY) use HTTP and its cousins for access. You therefore have access to web
server access authentication. Using HTTPS or similar protocols would provide
for secure authentication. Using Java servlet web services might provide
even more fine control. At least, that's the idea we're toying in our
efforts...

Are there suggestions for maintaining versions of your services? Say you
have a version 2 that is quite different than version 1, it would seem you
would either want to maintain version 1 as is, and register version 2 as a
new service (with a new name), or alternatively to deregister service 1 and
register service 2 with a new name. Maybe this has been brought up before or
maybe there is a better way?

Also, I am sure it has been discussed before, but what about authentication
for services? Say I have a service that I need you to be a registered user
for, how does that fit in with it all? Point me to any previous discussions
if this has been exhausted previously.
