Mark,
Well, one symptom was that the 'articleName', provided as the first element
of the array ref used to construct XMLinputlist in the execute call, was
being added to the <queryInput> tag, not to the <Simple> tag where it's
apparently supposed to be. Since Gabriel's service relied on pulling
articleNames out of <Simples>, to get query data, it thought there was
never any data in my queries.
We both have our own installations of MOBY, but I downloaded it a few weeks
before the CSHL MOBY meeting, whereas he downloaded the week afterwards. We
diffed our two installations, and there were significant differences, but
no version numbers, so we couldn't really track things down. Once I started
using his, the problem disappeared. Hence my conclusion that I was merely
using an out-dated version of the library. I realise that you've been going
to great pains to maintain interoperability, but perhaps this was a bug in
an earlier version that got fixed. Clearly you don't keep compatibility
with bugs, right?
On a somewhat related note, what's the regression-testing situation in MOBY?
