Because it is a public interface, we simply (in the early prototype)
create an enormous ID number so that it can't easily be guessed and
de-registered by some yahoo with a palm-pilot.  In the new version (I'm
writing it now) we will have email authentication for deregistration,
and therefore not need a 'big ID number' anymore.
