Hi,
I got this speaking engagement that I can't make, but there's some interesting
info about Incyte's work in this arena.

Lincoln--
Hakman Peachey been asked to lead the XML/Web services oriented round table
session at the upcoming BioIT World conference in San Diego. The session
will be Wed Nov-13, 5:30 - 6:30 pm.
I'm looking to line up several pre-selected participants to provide a 5
minute debrief on their vision of XML and Web services for BioIT computing
problems. The format is a round-table discussion (not a panel). We'll have
6 organizations share their uses of Web services and XML and then facilitate
a dialogue.
I only have a few spots remaining at this time, so if you're interested, get
back to me quickly. And if you're not interested or available, please let
me know as well.
In any event call me at 415 225 4259 because I think you'll be very
interested in some advancements Hakman Peachey has made in web-delivered,
XML and Web service based, users interfaces that make bioinformatics data
highly accessible and usable to researchers. [see attached backgrounder on
our work with Incyte Genomics and Iconix Pharmacueticals]
Here's the abstract for the round table:
Many have talked about the potential of Web services
infrastructure for distributed computing and exchange of data
amongst disparate systems but few have focused on how such
information ultimately is presented to the researcher at
his/her desktop and how scientists along the continuum will
interact with the infrastructure. This session will bring
together experts and interested parties to explore how
companies today are connecting all scientists to Web services,
eliminating complex application integration, and increasing
researcher discovery productivity at the point of the
desktop.
PowerPoint illustrations may be helpful to support the 5 minute debrief.

If you'd like to pass this opportunity to someone else on your team, let me
know. I'll need name, email, and phone info so that we can do some
coordination ahead of time.
