hmmmmm.... I think I am working on HEAD.  I just did a fresh checkout
and I still get the lines you indicate as either blank or commented-out
in that copy as well.

??

Anyway, I will try to reproduce the problem first, and if I can
reproduce it, I'll debug it and commit the changes to HEAD.  Then we
should see if you are able to update these into your version.
