[EMBOSS] error when using the emboss

Dear Mingquan,

perhaps you can give a try to the packaged EMBOSS in Ubuntu ?  Version 6.3.1 is
available for Natty and Oneiric, and I can prepare an unofficial backport for
Maverick and maybe Lucid if you need.
