Ummm, gosh Alan.  You embarrass me.  :-)  Doing the port was really
comparatively little effort.  Credit should go to the EMBOSS team, who have
produced a mature, well structured, standards compliant and therefore very
portable product.  The same cannot be said for most of the software tools in
bioscientific fields - believe me, I've tried porting some things recently...
