Ok. I get the idea. 

I tihnk it is important that we don't conceptually set our C mapping or
our IDL definition in stone yet. I will want to revisit it once we have
seriously used it for a while. 

BTW - when you have a thesis to read and a paper to right it is amazing
what as things you can find to amuse yourself... ;)
