[DAS] Making DAS list moderated?

Hi,

I have noticed (what seems like) a large growth in spam being sent to the DAS list, resulting in the mailteam having to deal with many discards to said list.  I was wondering how people felt about the idea of making the DAS list moderated, becoming a members only posting list.  This will alleviate the task of dealing with all of that spam. 

If people have strong feelings about this one way or the other, I am asking you to please voice your opinion!  Otherwise, if there is no outcry against it, we would make it a members only posting list.  Apparently the biojava list is set up this way, and seems to be doing ok with it for the moment?

Were we to go that route,  it was also suggested to me that I ask for some moderator volunteers to do some of the work along with the mail team.  So, if anyone wants to contribute their time in that manner, I am sure it would be truly appreciated.
