It probably a good time for a new release, esp since the Oreilly
bifx Conf will be at the end of the month.

Subject: [Biojava-l] Release schedule
Hi there...
It's now just coming up to 11 months since the last major
release of BioJava (1.1x) came out. Since then, the project
has come along a huge amount, both in terms of new code and
maturity of the core functionality. I spoke to David Huen
yesterday, and we both agreed that it's past time for a new
release. So let's see if we can get 1.20 out within
a year of 1.10!
Unless there are any objections, I think we should aim at
the end of this month as a firm release target. If anyone
checks code into any of the core packages (even if it's just
to fix a bug), please could you:
- Send a description of what you've done to the mailing
list
- Ensure that there are corresponding test cases in the
JUnit test suite (this is a good policy for all
checkins -- let's see how well it works for this
release cycle).
If there are any big chunks of code which need to be checked
in, but which won't be ready for 1.2, there's always the
possibility of putting in the branch for 1.2 early, then
checking new code in on the head. But we'll deal with this
issue as and when it becomes an issue.
Does anyone know of any reasons why now would be a particularly
bad time to release? Any other comments?
Thomas.
