I would like to introduce a peer-reviewed online
journal of bioinformatics, published by BioMed
Central. BMC Bioinformatics publishes original
research articles in all aspects of computational
methods used in the analysis and annotation of
sequences and structures, as well as all other
areas of computational biology.

Why not check out this recently published article
in BMC Bioinformatics:

Noncoding RNA gene detection using comparative
sequence analysis
Elena Rivas, Sean Eddy

Or simply browse the full text content of journal:

BioMed Central also supports the open letter
produced by www.openinformatics.org, which
petitions public funding agencies to allow
software developed as part of publicly funded
research to be released under open-source or free
software licenses. This goal is consistent with
BioMed Central's approach of allowing free access
to the research published in our online journals.

BMC Bioinformatics recently published two research
articles describing open-source Bioinformatics
research projects.

The Distributed Annotation System
Robin D Dowell, Rodney M Jokerst, Allen Day, Sean
R Eddy, Lincoln Stein
BMC Bioinformatics 2001, 2:7
http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2105/2/7

FOUNTAIN: A JAVA open-source package to assist
large sequencing projects
Jean-Marie Buerstedde, Florian Prill
BMC Bioinformatics 2001, 2:6

in BMC Bioinformatics or one of its sister
journals visit http://www.biomedcentral.com or
