Dear Member of the BOSC Community,

The first ever GCCBOSC was a big success! Held at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, the meeting attracted over 275 people (the hardest-core of whom are just wrapping up the second part of the CollaborationFest, CoFest Encore). You can view the complete schedule at https://gccbosc2018.sched.com/. Many of the talk slides are already uploaded and linked to the corresponding pages on sched.com.

Tweets about the meeting can be found at https://twitter.com/search?&q=%23GCCBOSC
Brad Chapman's summary is at https://github.com/chapmanb/bcbb/blob/master/posts/conferences/bosc2018_day1a.md

Feedback about GCCBOSC has been mostly positive--the main complaint I heard was from people who are devotees of both GCC and BOSC, who were bummed that they had to choose between parallel tracks during some sessions.

Please help us make decisions about BOSC 2019 by filling out the questionnaire: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSckB5ckoxvXf8UoheO9qOiGuWYsMRXWoOu_HkQ0RATzXmQZQA/viewform
We very much want feedback from as many BOSC community members as possible, including those who did not attend GCCBOSC.

Thank you to everyone who attended GCCBOSC and helped make it a rewarding meeting! Those of you who couldn’t attend, we missed you, and hope to see you at future meetings!

Thanks,
Nomi Harris (Chair, BOSC 2018) and the BOSC organizing committee
