[Bioperl-l] Why is '+' a delimiter in $OBDA_SEARCH_PATH?

We chose + because it was the least problematic choice among the Windows, 
Macintosh and Unix platforms.  We couldn't use ":" because it is required for 
Mac, and ";" was out for some other reason that I can't recall -- maybe 
Windows needs it for filename mangling?
